True Vine Bible Fellowship Hosts Domestic Violence Awareness Event October 9
The event will take place from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 9 and from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 10. The church is located at 533 Avalon Street in Lompoc.
Representatives of Three Hart Connection, the North County Crisis and Child Protection Center, Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Office and Vandenberg Sexual Assault Prevention Response Office present information to those present.

Annual meeting of the Friends of the Lompoc Library, election set for October 27
The Friends of the Lompoc Library will hold their annual meeting and election of officers at 2 p.m. on October 27 in the Library’s Grossman Gallery.
Nominations for the posts of President and Secretary will be taken on the floor.
Members are encouraged to attend the meeting and also to offer ongoing support to the organization.
The library is located at 501 E. North Ave.
LUSD to participate in Great California ShakeOut campaign
The Lompoc Unified School District will participate in the Great California ShakeOut earthquake preparedness campaign “in the interest of the safety of all students and staff,” a school official said.
All LUSD campuses will participate in the exercise at 10:21 a.m. on October 21.
During the exercise, students and staff will practice “drop, cover and stand” – the appropriate action to reduce injury and death in an earthquake, federal experts say , state and local emergency management.
Millions of people in schools, organizations and homes participate each year, according to the ShakeOut campaign, which is designed to help districts ensure that school safety extends beyond the school campus.
“Dunkin for Pumpkins” at the Lompoc aquatic center scheduled for October 24
Lompoc Parks & Recreation is hosting a Halloween-themed “Dunkin for Pumpkins” aquatic event at the Lompoc Aquatic Center from 10 am to noon on Sunday, October 24th.
The activity pool at the Lompoc Aquatic Center will transform into a floating pumpkin patch where young people up to 17 years old can swim and choose a floating pumpkin.
Once the pumpkins are picked, participants will have the opportunity to decorate their pumpkins at the decorating station on the back patio.
Pre-registration for this event is required and the cost of general admission which includes a pumpkin is $ 12. General admission without a pumpkin is $ 6 per person.
Children under 6 must be within reach of an adult at all times.

Lompoc Rec scholarships available for low income residents
The Town of Lompoc is now offering scholarships to eligible participants in the Lompoc Parks and Recreation program as part of a new block grants program for community development.
A $ 15,000 CDBG Social Services grant to assist 250 low-income recreation program participants through full scholarships is available for a limited time and while funds are exhausted.
The program is open to all ages.
