Annual ‘Friendship Week’ to raise awareness of children’s rights kicks off in Lucknow


LUCKNOW: The annual Friendship Week – aimed at raising awareness of children’s rights – was launched by Childline Lucknow Bus Station and Childline Alambagh on Sunday. Both childcare services have been joined by Snehalaya Shelter Home (for children) to launch Friendship Week, which is observed nationwide in the second or third week of November each year. .

At the launch event, the gathering was briefed on child safety and protection. The event kicked off with Childline Director Sangeeta Sharma cutting a cake with the children at the shelter. Afterwards, the children gave musical performances and practiced different sports.

On this occasion, Sharma explained the purpose of the “Childline se Dosti” program to the children present. She said that “Childline se Dosti” aims to ensure cooperation and vigilance between all organizations engaged in child protection. According to officials, this would provide students with medical, police and educational aid. In addition, the departments can come to the aid of the children as and when needed.

Meanwhile, the president of the Kadam Foundation, who was also present at the event, educated the children present on how to stay alert and protect themselves from strangers with dangerous motives. The children were also informed about the 1098 child helpline and how to use it.
