Cain Velasquez issues statement against child abuse; Asking Twitter followers to consider donating to RAINN


UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez has released a statement since his incarceration.

Velasquez encouraged his Twitter subscribers on April 29 to donate to RAINN as part of its April National Sexual Assault Awareness and Child Abuse Prevention Month awareness effort (National Rape, Abuse and Sexual Assault Network ‘incest).

He added in his statement, “Although I am not at home, I am standing up to help educate the community and provide resources and information to victims and their families. No one should have to experience sexual abuse. and we need to stand up and push for change. Thank you all for your continued love and support.

Velasquez, 39, is incarcerated in Santa Clara County after shooting a pistol at suspected child molester Harry Goularte, who allegedly sexually assaulted a 4-year-old close family member at a daycare center.

Instead, Velasquez is accused of shooting Goularte’s stepfather, Paul Bender, in the shoulder, causing injuries. Velasquez was charged with attempted murder and other offences.
