CAN Council’s GolfSit raises over $30,000 ‘before’ Huron County kids

On Wednesday, June 22, golfers, sponsors, fundraising teams and volunteers raised record funds at Scenic Golf & Country Club for the annual CAN Council GolfSit presented by Thumb Bank & Trust. These funds will be used to support essential child abuse prevention, intervention and advocacy services in Huron County.

Emily Yeager, President and CEO of the CAN Council, said, “This community showed up with a heart of gold and we are blown away by the generosity of this year’s GolfSit! This kind of commitment is what drives us to expand our services to help more abused children in Huron County.

CAN Council recently celebrated the launch of its CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) program in Huron County. Huron County’s first four CASA volunteers are currently enrolled in a six-week training program and will be sworn in Huron County Family Court upon completion. These volunteers will serve as advocates for children who enter the justice system due to abuse or neglect. The CAN Board hopes to increase the number of volunteers recruited for the next round of training in the fall.
