Every month, 250,000 cases are reported in the EU, which is a worrying statistic indicating that cases of child exploitation are increasing day by day. Criminals use Facebook as a platform to threaten children and then involve them in sexual abuse. Facebook admitted that failure to analyze posts containing child pornography could harm the child protection program. End-to-end encryption will continue the exploitation of many children in Britain.
It became Facebook’s duty to make the analysis legal after its competitors made it legal to analyze messages for reference to child pornography. End-to-end encryption will make child protection policies lenient, according to the British MP, as a result of which these cases will tend to increase every day. The company runs many programs to protect children’s rights and analyzes posts where there is child abuse material on social media or any other website. This firm submitted 3000 cases to the British National Crime Agency, where children’s rights were threatened.
According to Monika Bickert, head of overall corporate policy management, if Facebook doesn’t change the end-to-end encryption for all private chats, it will mask some cases, which Facebook may discover. She further added in a response that if we do not have access to content where there is child abuse material, if we are not able to see that type of content, there is nothing we can do to report. such a case because if we can’t see it, how can we report such a case. Therefore, the number of cases will be reported less for this reason.
Unfortunately, 70% of cases were lost after Facebook’s end-to-end encryption plan. Cooper, who cited this estimate from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, was shocked by Facebook’s decision and explained why Facebook is trying to put more children at risk on its platform. This kind of decision favors these cases.
Bickert said we want to provide an environment where people are safe. In particular, we are concerned about online crimes, the data of which has been lost or hacked by some criminals. She further stated that she had been a prosecutor and worked for such cases to protect children’s rights and that the government was also doing its best to protect children’s rights.
The NSPCC forced Facebook to resume scanning private messages on Tuesday. Earlier during the committee hearing, Twitter acknowledged that its platform played a role in the violence on the U.S. Capitol in the New Year.
Such types of violence are mostly planned on the social media platform, and it has become very difficult to stop people from hating each other because we don’t have the power of transparency and values.
