ANANTNAG: A one-day capacity building program was organized by the Anantnag District Child Protection Unit in collaboration with the Child Guidance and Welfare Center, IMHANS- Kashmir (Govt Medical College, Sgr) at the Town Hall of Mattan.
The inaugural technical session was held by Ms. Sana Majeed, LCPO, at DCPU Anantnag.
She highlighted the role of village and block level child protection committees, JJB, CWC and focused on the rehabilitation of children in need of care and protection.
Mr. Syed Mujtaba – Training Coordinator at CGWC-IMHANS underlined the objectives of the program and the need to mainstream mental health.
He emphasizes the importance of mental health and such capacity building sessions for service providers. He said this is the first step towards building healthy societies.
The second technical session was held by Mr. Mohd Shaheen, occupational therapist at CGWC IMHANS.
The session focused on contextualizing the mental health issues of children in need of care and protection and how dangerous contexts and emergencies affect children’s mental health.
The second technical session was held by Adil Fayaz, coordinator of Prog, he explained the development process and the psychosocial problems that children experience. Other than that, how can we identify the psychosocial needs of children in need of care and protection.
The participants were from the village-level child protection committee / block-level child protection committees of the Anantnag DCP unit.
