Pedophile Confesses He Won’t Stop Uploading “Revolting” Child Abuse Images Until He Is Put In A Cave With No Electricity

A pedophile says he will only stop downloading appalling child rape videos if he is put in a cave with no access to electricity.

Twice, 33-year-old Edward Thornton has been arrested by police with a sickening collection of indecent images involving children.

In 2021, he was found with a stockpile of more than 14,000 “appalling files”, some involving rape of babies and “sadistic” torture of toddlers.

L’Echo reports that the Wirral peado said that although he knew the children involved had been harmed, he was “addicted” and would not stop uploading photos and videos of child sexual abuse – unless it is impossible for him to do so.

Thornton, of Meadowfield Close, Rock Ferry, was first convicted of indecent child photos in December 2008, when he was sentenced to 11 months in prison, suspended for two years.

He was then jailed for three years in July 2014, for possessing and sharing images of child sexual abuse and 11 violations of a Sexual Offenses Prevention Order.

He received an update to the Sexual Injury Prevention Order (SHPO), but a few months after his release from prison in 2016, he began to rack up sickness records again.

Liverpool Crown Court heard that police attended Thornton’s home on May 11, 2020 and asked him to present phones or computers for inspection.

Prosecutor Christopher Taylor said Thornton handed over a Nokia with no internet access and said that was all he had.

But a detective told him information suggested he posted an indecent photo on the Kik Messenger app.

The “tearful” pervert confessed and went to a closet and produced two cell phones, a computer tower, and a wireless router.

Mr Taylor said on a Huawei phone and the computer that there were “at least 14,266 illegal files” uploaded between October 15, 2016 and May 4, 2020.

In total, there were 3,766 Category A images – the most serious category showing child rape – 2,770 Category B images and 7,605 Category C images.

This included 1,100 child rape videos, featuring children as young as babies.

Thornton had 90 other prohibited images (cartoons) of children and 35 extreme pornographic files, showing animal abuse.

Mr Taylor described a selection of images, some of which were from Russia.

Mr Taylor said there were in fact 38,000 images, but the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) had not requested that the remaining files be reviewed or filed as it was agreed that it was “unnecessary to expose the reviewers “to further analysis.

The judge, recorder Eric Lamb, said: “Anyone who is exposed to these images cannot fail to be affected by them.”

On his Huawei phone, Thornton had the Wickr Me encrypted chat service and used it to share a child rape video.

Thornton made a full confession during his interview and was released under investigation while his phone was analyzed.

SnapChat contacted police this year to tell them that an account linked to Thornton had uploaded a Category B file in March 2021.

Police raided her home on August 11 and seized a cell phone hidden under a sofa, a laptop and three USB devices.

He hid them from his sex offender manager and again made a full confession during the interview, before six categories A, B and C files were found.

He again made a full confession during the interview.

Thornton admitted six counts of uploading, two counts of distribution and one count of possession of indecent images of children.

He also pleaded guilty to four counts of violating his SHPO and possession of prohibited images of children and extreme pornography.

Bernice Campbell, defending, said Thornton’s “best and perhaps the only point” was his first guilty pleas, which earned him a third of his sentence.

She said he confessed to the police and was also “extremely candid” with a psychiatrist and a probation officer about his “problems”.

Ms Campbell said: “Your honor has before it many addicts – the majority of them are drugs.

“But in some ways it’s addictive for Mr Thornton. When asked how he would shut down, he replied quite frankly ‘in a cave with no electricity’.

“He needs help. There are members of the public who would probably say ‘lock him up and throw the key’, or maybe worse.

“But we are in court and there are sentencing guidelines as you know.”

She added that Thornton, who has Asperger’s syndrome, “doesn’t know why he’s acting the way he’s doing, but he’s ready to commit.”

Recorder Lamb said Thornton was “a clever man” who “deliberately and cleverly” violated his SHPO by uploading pictures of abused children around the world, to which he said he was “addicted.”

He told her that no one hearing “even the sanitized description” given to the court “could not fail to be outraged by the kind of images you were looking for.”

The judge jailed Thornton for five years and said he would have to sign the sex offender register and comply with his SHPO indefinitely.
