A new fundraising campaign to prevent child abuse is underway in Riverside County.
The effort, called âChild Abuse Stops Here,â was started by Olive Crest, who since 1973 has worked to prevent child abuse, treat and educate at-risk children.
“The objective of this campaign is not only to raise awareness, but also to raise $ 80,000, which will pay for 7,000 days of safety and care for these children and families at risk that we serve in these two communities”, said Walter Mueller, director of development for Riverside and the Coachella Valley, said in a press release.
The campaign invites people to tap into their network of contacts for the cause.
The organization is asking community members to find the names of 40 friends in four minutes, the statement said. For example, these people can be family members, friends, co-workers, neighbors or people known to church, social clubs or business contacts such as a banker, hairdresser or auto mechanic, indicates the press release.
Campaign sponsorships are available from $ 500 to $ 10,000. Sponsors to date include Burrtec Waste Management, California Baptist University, and Pacific HydroTech.
