Traffic plan for national plowing championships

More than 80,000 people expected over three days.

An Garda Síochána has set up a major police operation for the National Plowing Championships, which take place from Tuesday to Thursday, September 20-22.

With over 80,000 people expected, gardaí stresses that the assistance of all road users is needed to allow traffic to move freely to and from the event during these times.

Gardaí urges road users not taking part in the National Plowing Championships to avoid the N80 at Stradbally and all access roads to the village of Ratheniska from Tuesday 20 September 06:00 until Thursday 22 September 20:00.

For those attending the National Plowing Championships, please check the traffic management plan on Garda.ie or NPA.ie in advance.

A Garda community commitment – ​​#Ploughing2022

A Garda Síochána stand can be found at block 3, row 20, stand 329.

Over the 3 days, Garda members and staff will be on hand to discuss topics with clients including:

• Community involvement

• Crime prevention

• Road police

• Juvenile Diversion Program

• Diversity Unit

• Recruitment

• Cybercriminality

• Economic crime

Demonstrations of mobility devices, road policing equipment and property marking equipment and photo opportunities with Gardaí, a range of Garda vehicles, the Garda Mounted Unit among others will be facilitated.

An Garda Síochána, in this year of our centenary (1922 – 2022), will host a centenary exhibition of memories, photographs, access to online photographic archives and information about the centenary book “The Guardians” at the stand 328.

An Garda Síochána has also partnered with the Ministry of Justice at booth 328 where information on victim services will also be provided.

The Garda Band will be present at the National Plowing Championships on the afternoon of Thursday 22 September.
